All of us got into the shop this morning and went straight to work. Phylis and I working on the Annie Oakley drop again by pouncing part of the circle on the drop and then pouncing that section onto the drop. We then took the craft paper back over to our area and continued pouncing the craft paper. By lunch we had some of the lettering done. Then mid afternoon rolled around and we had almost all of the lettering done. Then by the time I left tonight the horse and 90% of the lettering was done. Before the pouncing we also drew everything in and somewhere in there I back painted part of the train which is almost assembled.
Oh, I forgot to tell you all we are painting Annie Get Your Gun that is the show I am working on right now. Also, the rain was not half as bad as it was yesterday.
I got an Easter basket in the mail from my Mom it was really nice to get it and know she is thinking of me.

Tuesday... lots of rain... :(
This morning after all of us got into the shop Patti and I made more boxes for the Annie Oakley drop. Then both of us stapled down the actual canvas being used for the drop and some scrim that is supposed to go on the back of the drop behind Annie’s face. There was a lot more lettering today on the two drops I was working on yesterday so that I did on and off all day. Patti and I starched the Annie Oakley drop which was fun because I had never done that before. The whole group sat down for lunch today and some people ran errands. The people who ran errands came back and told us that parts of the roads were flooded. It had been raining almost non stop since Monday night so I was not surprised. Needless to say it rained very hard all day long.
After lunch my afternoon was spent doing more and more lettering. I got a small break when I got to paint the train seating all over again because the carpenters forgot some finishing touches on them. I didn’t mind though because it was a break from all the lettering. I managed to get the base coat and two coats of copper paint on before it was time to go.

Monday... =P
This morning when I got into work Krista and I got the finale drop up and off the floor. Some of the carpenters came in, rolled it up, and took it away to be loaded on stage. The rest of my morning was helping Emily align different lettering that needed to be pounced on to the smaller drops. The whole group then had lunch and we couldn’t go outside and walk because there was a torrential down pour all day.
After lunch Emily and I finished pouncing the two drops with all of their lettering components. After that was finished we both started inking the drops with sharpie. You cannot make mistakes in the instance so needless to say I was quite nervous. Emily was pulled away to start helping someone else with another project and I was left all by myself. I got even more nervous then but there was nothing I could do about it so I just kept inking the drop I was working on. Later Phyllis came over and started inking the second lettered drop.
Now I am home and trying to finish more job applications.

Sunday...
Today I slept in till 11 am which was really nice. I got up and had a hot pocket for lunch. Eric, Allegra, and I went to the Family Laundromat to do laundry which was fun because it is in Deep River so we got to walk around the town square while our laundry was going. We went in to Dunkin’ Doughnuts, that was my first time being in there and it reminded me a lot of Tim Horton’s. I spent the rest of the day applying for summer and full time seasonal work. I don’t want to say where because I don’t want to jinx it.

I got up today and made lunch then started working on journal writing. So I finally found a real legitimate grocery store I made a trip to the Old Saybrook Stop & Shop today. It took about 25 minutes to get there and it was packed because it was a Saturday afternoon. I sense that I am just going to have to get used to this driving 30 minutes to get to anything business.

In the evening I made chicken quesadillas and watched some TV. Later in the night I started working on internship applications.

In the morning Phyllis and I made more boxes for several smaller drop we stapled them to the deck and made sure they were square. I put the first coat of copper on to the train seats. Then the whole group had lunch and some of us went on a walk during the first part of our lunch break because it was so nice outside. While I was painting the train seat I got to watch several different people starch the drops, which was something I had never seen before.
After lunch the sky drop was starched twice because it is a translucent drop. I helped finish perforating the lettered drop I had started Wednesday.
Tonight I went out with a few carpenters and almost all of the painters to a place called Rudy’s it’s a small dive bar in New Haven. Rudy’s reminded me a lot of Houndog’s back home except more chicken tenders and fries instead of pizza.

In the morning I worked with Julia, we took the craft paper the we perforated for the sky drop and taped it over the drop. Then we used little pouches of charcoal and attached them to bamboo sticks. The both of us then proceeded to rub the charcoal over the drawing. The next step was to lift the craft paper off the drop and what was left was a faint charcoal drawing of the sky. I helped Julia prepare her work space so she could start air brushing the drop. I then started the second coat of copper paint on the train seats. The majority of us went to lunch at The Cooking Company today. It is this really cute little place down the street from the paint shop. They have sandwiches that you can order or premade food. I got bow tie pasta and fresh fruit it was delicious.
When I got back from lunch I finished the second coat on the train seating. Then I removed bridges from two of the smaller drops and stapled them back to the deck. After I did that Krista sprayed the drops with hot water apparently this gets out even more wrinkles that might be left from taking out the bridge. My next task was to help Alison mask off different parts of the train that were going to get painted gold. I had to be very precise so that the wood grain that was already finished did not get ruined. The pieces that I masked off are to be painted gold. I put a base coat on all of the different molding pieces. For the rest of the day I helped Phyllis snap border lines around a huge drop that had Indians and pioneers on it. It seems very intricate and looks like it will take a really long time to paint. Other people were working on it by inking the out lines of the different figures on the drop.
My roommate Erin cooked garlic chicken tonight and she is a pretty good cook I think I am going to ask her to show me a few of her ticks in the kitchen.
My roommates and I had a little shindig here in the house last night. It was fun and I got to meet some new people mostly from the box office all of the other people I had previously met.

Day Two...
After getting in to the paint shop this morning everyone went to their different projects. The whole morning Phyllis and I spent projecting the sky drop on to craft paper. We traced the lines from the projector on to the craft paper in sections to create a grid that can be lined up on to the drop. The drop is 37ft by 16ft 6in so needless to say it took the whole morning to complete it. Then the group sat in the break room and had lunch again.
My afternoon was spent switching more of the bogus paper on the deck. Then Phyllis and I mapped out a box for the sky drop to be stapled into. We used some geometry and lining sticks to make the box. Phyllis and I then stapled the drop into the box and because our math was right the first time it fit. I cleaned off the deck after we completed stapling the sky drop. The last little bit of my day was spent pouncing lettering for another drop.
Now I am going to see if I can finish my paper work for Goodspeed.
